EVERYONE KNOWS PORSCHES HAVE ROTARY DIESEL W8's.

So the V6 Porch's on CL hav racin engine? That explanes eVreethng.

Technically it is still a V configuration. It's just a 180 degree V. :p
What I'm still waiting for is an engine where every other piston rotates the opposite direction within the same block.
That's where the money is...

A Porsche runs a V6 in the same way my nipples excrete sugary unicorn semen.

Well, if the definition of a V engine includes common journals between pairs of the V, then it is emphatically *not*. That's why people refer to a "180 degree V" specifically, they're calling it out as not being a boxer.

If 911s have v6s then this Porsche is light and nimble.

I was being completely sarcastic and did not for one moment actually think that it was anything other than a Boxer engine.

Good stuff. I just mentioned it in case you weren't aware of the common journal thing, given that some people aren't. Which is, of course, a good example of a commonly accepted definition (what makes a V? common journals!) being on crazy pills.

I was not aware of that definition, so thanks.
What about my other idea though?
You could have an inline four where pistons 1 and 4 move 180 degrees relative to pistons 2 and 3 within the same block. So top dead center on 1 and 4 is at the top of the engine when mounted vertically, and TDC for 2 and 3 would be at the bottom of the block. Think of the complexity of the timing assembly! I am quite surprised Ze Germans haven't done this already.
Or even better, every other piston would rotate only 90 degrees different relative to the others. So a typical inline-four mounted vertically would have two pistons moving vertically and the other two would move horizontally.

Well, isn't the anti freeze air cooled?
